There she had a third window added - as a symbol of the Trinity <\/a>.\nWhen her father found out about her conversion to Christianity, he tried to kill her. Barbara fled and found shelter in a rock that opened before her. But a shepherd betrayed her, she was caught, tortured and sentenced to death. Dioscurus himself beheaded his daughter and was then killed by lightning.\nThat's why Barbara is also the patron saint in dangers, in mining, in the military and against lightning strikes and sudden death.<\/p>\n

Beautiful customs<\/strong> have developed from the veneration of the very popular saints. During parades in her honor, miners often wear their miner's uniform, a smock decorated with 29 buttons meant to symbolize Barbara's 29 years of life. <\/sup>The top three buttons are often open. They either mean faith, hope and love, but also symbolize the Trinity or are intended to commemorate Barbara's three-year imprisonment. The nine points of the cape collar are a reminder about nine years of imprisonment in the tower.<\/sup><\/p>\n
