New gift idea for men
Gift idea for men with a sense of aesthetics and a penchant for sober, simple design. The expressiveness of this modern image of a saint is very strong thanks to the balanced design and the position of the central part of the image - a simple disc made of real 23 kt gold leaf. The picture fits into any interior and suits all styles. With the frame you can give it an additional touch, depending on your taste. The picture looks noble and even more elegant in a silver frame, a massive dark wooden frame underlines the delicacy of the picture. Framed in delicate white, the outlines seem to dissolve and the eye remains stuck on the ambiguous gold work.
Saint's namesake as a mural: Thomas Aquinas
As with many saints, the life of Thomas Aquinas is extremely exciting. His biography is also marked by fights, even against his own family. He received great graces, became a famous teacher, wrote important works of philosophy and theology, dictating to three or four secretaries at the same time. He is one of the most important theologians in the Roman Catholic Church. One of his major works is the Summa theologica. He soon enjoyed great recognition, but his death gave rise to wild rumors about a poisoning, which persisted for centuries. Dante hints at this in his “Purgatory” and blames Charles I of Anjou, King of Sicily, for it. Ultimately, however, these rumors were refuted.
Born into the nobility in 1225 in Aquino, Italy, he was destined for a clerical career as the youngest son at an early age. He had nothing against this, but decided to join the Dominican Order, a mendicant order. He had to fight against his family because they had planned a different order. The conflict escalated to such an extent that that his own brothers kidnapped him on his mother's behalf and held him prisoner in a castle for over a year. Since he remained true to his decision, the family finally gave in. Naples, Paris and Cologne were important stops for the saint.
He stopped writing shortly before his death in 1274. He is said to have been deeply touched by something during a Holy Mass. He refused to work any further because “Everything I have written seems like straw compared to what I have seen.”
